just back from obs sabah.. and i can tell you people that obs sabah rox!! u missed out alot if you didn't go. its a once in a lifetime experience.. let me go through day by day..
day 1, 11 dec 2006reached obs sabah base at around 10 o'clock and had dinner. we split into 4 groups were given our linen for the beds and went to sleep.
day 2, 12 dec 2006there was morning p.t. at 5.50. we was asked to run to certain fruit trees. then breakfast. followed by ice breaking games, the tangle hand thing. it really helps to break the ice in one way or another. we were given a slient orientation around the base. we were on duty for lunch, and priority was given to us to select our group name. we created our own cheer for our group; hang tuah. had lesson about first aid and some camp craft. after which there was a ridge run, and some of the people in the front got stung by the bees. luckily i was at the back. then dinner and the briefing for the sailing expeditions the next day.
day 3, 13 dec 2006sailing. at 9 o'clock we assembled at the boat house to start assembling the sails. were out in the sea for 3 hr plus. had to be towed through the breaking waves and ate lunch on baord. the lunch was prepared for us by the kitchen. on the way we saw a full rainbow across two island. at around 3 we reached tinawan island. set up tents and started to cook. we were the 1st group in the 6 years of instructing that a group cooked rice without asking for help. im so proud! after dinner we went to lagoon. by then the sky's already fallen. we lay by the lagoon to talk and watch the stars. the whole sky was full of stars! nothing that you can find in singapore. i counted till 50 stars n gave up because there was too many to be counted. we did sanctury duty n fed the mosquitos in front of the fire while sleeping.
day 4, 14 dec 2006we set sail to go back ob base. got towed back and reached at 10 o'clock as the other local group needed to use the boat. after we showered n had lunch. the activity after was the tramp jump. the harness was killing the guys. they were screaming when suspended midair. dinner, breifing for jungle trip thn bedtime.
day 5, 15 dec 2006was brought to the starting point of our jungle trecking. went the wrong way t wice. paul had to ran all the way to get us back to the right path. reached the camp site at 2 plus height 1550 feet above sea level. set up the tents n fire. unfortunately the logistic tent was above the fire ants nest. there was ants all over. the ants could bite through my track pants and hold on. there were little swelling at the spot after. did sanctury by the fire and slept in the tent.
day 6, 16 dec 2006woke up at 6 plus to prepare breakfast n lunch. lunch was rice with chicken luncheon meat. trecked to the second camp site. had lunch n set up tents n fire after the rain. due to inproper feng shui, the fire was chocking everybody. so the fire was soon put out after dinner was prepared. dinner was noodles. did sanctuary n slept on a ground sheet outside the tent.
day 7, 17 dec 2006woke up n packed to treck to kampong puson. at kampong puson, we were shown our host's house where lunch was prepared by the rest while i fooled around. had lunch and brought around the kampong to see. we splashed around in the stream with paul. went back n prepared dinner for the whole of the host's house n us. the cultural night where we was shown the trditional sabah dance. did some preformances and watch group 3. sat around the kitchen n went to sleep.
day 8, 18 dec 2006woke up at 3.45am to prepare breakfast. only me n ssq managed to wake up. the rest slowly woke up one by one. had french toast n set off for ob base at 5 plus. walked won the high way back to base. bathed n had lunch. had our solo in the jungle n dinner. bathed again briefing for mt. k n went to bed.
day 9, 19 dec 2006travelled to halelula to climatise n on the way passed by shops to buy things. had packed lunch on the way and bought a shirt, beanie, pencil and pepper for my dad. ate ice cream on the way. prepared dinner at the hostel and overshot time. hung around and crap with people. briefing and went to sleep.
day 10, 20 dec 2006
prepared breakfast and packed lunch. reached timponhin gate and got the pass to climb. painstakingly walked pass 8 check point to the second hostel. ate lunch at the 5th chech point. the rest prepared dinner at the hostel while i sat on the table to guard the food. dinner was fries with spagaiti. slept at 6pm and woke up 40 min later for the briefing. went back to sleep n wokeup again at 12 am.
day 11, 21 dec 2006set off at 2 for the summit. reached the only checkpoint and showed my pass. went halfway from the checkpoint and summit got ams. i protested and wanted to continue but in the end still went down. had to be brought down to the checkpoint to wait for the rest to come back. slept at the check point with feet on the floor lying on the bed. walked with the rest back to the hostel n slept. packed and walked back to starting point. travelled on the bus to another place to wait for the ob bus to come. wasted 2 hours sitting in the cold to wait for the bus. sat in the bus for 3 hours to go back to ob base. had dinner and debriefing at the admin office. we requested to sleep in the office on the floor as it is our last night together. played cards.
day 12, 22 dec 2006 / 23 dec 2006morning p.t. at 5.50am. breakfast and cleaned the equipments that we used. had lunch n packed my bags while waiting for the shop to open for us to buy thing. finished our group song and rehresed. followed by the farewell cum christmas party where we all preformed. had dinner and left ob base for the airport. flew to johor and travelled on the bus back to pa. reached at 1 plus. sent lj home n went to mac drive through to pig out. went home unpack n slept.

haiz.. 19 n a half hr more i'll be going to sabah.. n i haven't finish packing.. theres so many things to find.. and im alone at home looking for those things.. depressing.. and its doesn't help that i got no very close friends going with me.. it'll be a whole new experience.. totally new..
im currently looking for a pack of wet tissues that i bought long long time ago, a bottle of soap which disapeared.. either i find myself or take the risk.. the risk of my mum nagging about why i haven't finish packing, why i did not put them properly so i won't have to spend this time finding those thing.. but im willing to risk it. so now i'm waiting for my mum to come home thn i can ask her to help me find those things..
god help me please.. i've got so much homework left to do.. the whole stack of chinese test paper, my geography ispl, and the projects..
help..

i so so so so long nva post liao.. dun really feel like blogging.. even to the extend of tinking of closing the blog.. haha.. but now im still back.. since today gd mood..
todae went skating with my section n sis.. my mum made her tag along.. finally i went skating.. zh they all abit reluctant to go.. haha.. i nva fall at all!! great improvement.. although nva go v. fast..
hmm.. nothing much to sae le.. shall see when i shall post again..
